| So Happy T o g e t h e rAnother year had gone by both everyone eyes before they could blink. Love had come and gone, hopes were risen and fallen, and it seemed as if everyone’s prayers were not answered. Chandler’s being one of them, just a week before New Year’s his group of friends promised a no date pact. He wanted it all to be fair…since he wouldn’t have a date, then no one else should either. His friends had all agreed it was a good idea; however, the next day Phoebe had come up to everyone to announce she had a date for New Year’s. Than, one by one each of his friends had come up with a date: Monica with Fun Bobby, mother in supermarket for Joey, Phoebe and her scientist, Rachael and her Paulo, Janice for Chandler (oh yeah, Janice), and then there was Ross who didn’t break the pact, but he did manage to bring a monkey as his “date”. In the end, nothing came out right for any of them, all their dates were not really here, sleeping with another man, stormed off, had to leave, or crying about a late relative. The six friends were standing in the kitchen watching the ball drop from the television screen. Someone mentioned of everyone being so happy—except for Fun Bobby who was the one weeping over the dead grandpa. Joey had brought up that there were three girls and three boys, making it even if they were all willing to kiss. No one really wanted too…except Chandler, who kept ordering for someone, anyone to kiss him. Surprisingly, Joey had grabbed his face, jerking it towards his own, and their lips smashed together in a bruising kiss. The kiss was supposed to be a friendly gesture and the final reaction should’ve been revolted…yet Chandler was drawn back in surprise when Joey had pulled away. Surprise that…that the feeling inside of him wasn’t grossed out, wasn’t the feeling of wanting to spit out every bit of bacteria that came from Joey’s lips…which Chandler assumed was dirtied by every woman in the whole city…yet, he wasn’t spitting or yelling at Joey for this awful mistake. Chandler had remained quiet, drifting his eyes away from Joey to the floor to ponder what he was thinking, of how it felt. Thankfully, no one took notice of Chandler’s matter of pondering and wondering as they went to Monica’s couch to sit in their depression…even Joey. Chandler had gone back to his flat, really not wanting to be around Joey and see his face any longer. He should be grossed out, he should be throwing up in the toilet…yet Chandler was on his couch, clinging on to a pillow. The only thoughts that were trailing his mind was ‘So Happy Together’ song by the Turtles, and that…that single kiss. After an hour or so of Chandler clenching the pillow and biting, licking his lips in anxiousness, the door to his flat had finally opened. Chandler quickly jumped to his feet, throwing down the pillow to the couch and trying to pretend he wasn’t doing…whatever he was. He swallowed hard as Joey sluggishly making his way into the flat and closing the door behind him. “Hey—Hey—Hey man,” Chandler spoke up, his voice squeaking and his cheeks having an unusual tint of pink flush. “Hey,” he said once more, his teeth slipping over to the corner of his lower lip and nibbling on the flesh nervously.
