Pedestal
Oh he’s just a man no more no less.
Yet all they see is a hero’s success.
Oh he’s only human that’s all he’ll ever be.
But to them he’s not like you or me.
A knight in shining armor, something glorious and pretty .
A symbol of perfection never ugly never gritty.
Standing on his pedestal of fame and adoration.
Not a man just a symbol to a nation
Oh he’s not so pretty, he has his faults and a secret.
When he was but just a man he misses that time with regret.
Oh how he hates the adoration, the awestruck stares.
For now he is chained to the standard he bears.
So when he was dishonored and the image distroyed
The pedestal crumbled falling to the void.
He fell below back to earth again.
How grateful was he once more a man
Oh he’s just a man just another face.
Yet ever so happy for this fall from grace.
Oh it was a long way down .
But he’s only mortal, a man on the ground.
