[center]The water was freezing to his overly warm body. The temperature that his body usually sat at while in his regular human form was that of what doctors would call well over the boiling point. It was the point where blood would boil, insides would cook, and the body would whither away to nothingness from dehydration. But for him, a werewolf, it was normal temperature. It was strange for him to be so far out towards the human town, normally at night he stuck to the solitary depths of the forest that surrounded three sides of his house. But tonight he wanted new surroundings, he was thriving for something different. He would have never guessed that this would be the night that he met her.

He had noticed the smell of a human long before she had ever gotten close to him, but he had disregarded it for someone that was on the outskirts of the forest, over by the town. He had hoped it was the smell on the wind that he had sensed. Never would he had imagined what it was that would be next to him in a matter of minutes. What would be watching him through the branches.

Tristan liked to stay away from the town. His butler, Erik, was the one who went and did his shopping for him and ran to town. Tristan got away with only going into the actual town himself about once a month. He had no social life, except for the rare few werewolves that wandered their way this far north from the next major metropolitan area. Tristan had no family, aside from Erik, and he had no friends. He kept to himself, and it had earned him much talk in the little town. Some claimed he was a traveling buisnessman who was very rarely home. Others claimed he was one of the nightwalkers, oh if they only knew. And the rest just simply denied he was even there. But there were the occasional grandparent or old lady in the town that claimed that he was there when they were children, running in the forest and how they could hear large ferocious growls and howls coming from his estate late at night. But seeing as how they were all old, most people over looked their odd ramblings of the man who never died and never aged.

Tristan ran a hand through his wet, black hair, shaking out the droplets of water that clung to the strands. He took in a deep breath, and froze.... The smell... it was... there... with him. Tristan looked out the corner of his eye towards where the smell came from. Human, none of that foul musty smell that vampires had. But now a days even the smallest human was a threat to his kind. And Tristan was willing to be that whoever was sitting in the forest had seen much more than his bare abs and his chest. He didn't know how to react to this, but when he heard the large snapping noise and the heavy footsteps and rustling in the trees, that he immediately thought the worst.

With a loud snarl, his body quickly began crunching and snapping before he even had time to drop to all fours. Fur, the same clean majestic fur from before, sprouted almost instantly over every part of him. He quickly became his forest walker of the night, the Swiftrunner, as ancient tales spoke of, and he began to ran. But instead of running away, he too had an overactive curiostiy and ran towards the noises, quickly catching up to the fleeing body. And with one, quick swift jump, and a few quick sprints, he turned and faced the young girl, sometime during his sprinting changing back into the human he really was.

Tristan stared at the girl and tilted his head. "Little thins like you shouldn't be out this far into the forest this late at night. There are.... dangerous things out here." He said, raising an eyebrow. His voice was deep, but calm and soothing. He didn't see any threat about this girl, but his defenses were up. He knew that he couldn't trust anyone.

..::Unlikely Love::.. ((Need Female. Mature)) 1463

Don't move. Don't blink. Don't even breathe!

She had been warned. Oh how many times had she been warned? How many times had her mother pleaded with her not to go off into the forest at such a late hour? There were bears and wolves, but more besides - creatures of the night; dark shadows that preyed upon even the fiercest of animals that dwelt amongst the trees.

But Erin had never paid her mother's worrying much attention, she had always been to headstrong for that. In all her many years of wandering she had never come across anything other than hungry, dishevelled looking wolves which were easily escaped by climbing the nearest tree. Of course she had spent many hours perched upon a high branch, hoping the the snarling beasts would grow bored and slink off into the darkness. But she had always returned home unharmed but for a few bruises on the odd occasion she lost her footing.

Her trips into the peaceful wilderness had become less frequent of late, but Erin still basked in the unbound freedom and wonder that grasped her on each occasion. A small bag slung over her shoulder, the young woman would slip into the cool night air as soon as she was certain she would not be missed and disappear amongst the trees.

Hours would be spent wandering through the tall silver barked trees, moonlight filtering through the expansive foliage. Eventually Erin would come to the conclusion that she had travelled far enough for that evening and would settle herself on a log or against a tree to soak in the isolated tranquility. Only once the sky had begun to brighten with shades of soft blues, yellows and oranges did the young woman finally gather herself up and head back to the warmth of her bed.

On this night she had strayed a little further into the forest than she would have normally, and had just begun to consider heading home when the sound of furious splashing caught her attention. Though common sense warned her to leave the noise uninvestigated, Erin's curiosity got the better of her and with great care she had crept toward to origin of the sound.

The river bend had just come into view between the trees when from out of the depths of the water swam a wolf. Normally this would have prompted Erin to make a swift retreat but this wolf was different. It was not it's appearance that so transfixed her - though in comparisons to the wolves she had encountered this one was far more majestic and well groomed - but what the wolf became moments after it exited the water.

Suddenly a man stood in the moonlight where the wolf had once been, small rivers of water trickling down his skin - a werewolf. Erin almost gasped aloud but she dared not make a sound that would notify him of her presence. A hand lifted to grasp the crucifix that hung around her neck but no, that would be no use - such things did not work on werewolves did they? The silver letter opener which was tucked into her right boot would probably do her little good either.

Vampires you could ward away, Erin new that much and she had certainly done her best to protect herself for such creatures. Werewolves on the other hand were not so easily dissuaded and, from the stories she had been told, were naught but fierce and bloodthirsty creatures.

It would only be a matter of time before she was discovered - they had heightened sense didn't they? Surely he would be able to smell her very presence and then....well she couldn't wait for that. Holding her breath, Erin slowly backed away, forcing herself to hold her nerve until she was at least a short distance from him. Eyes fixed upon Tristan, she did not see the branch a couple of steps behind her until too late and her foot descended upon it.

SNAP!

The sound of splintering wood exploded into the silence and Erin's fear took hold. Not daring to wait to discover if the sound had alerted the werewolf or not, she turned on her heel and ran. As fast as her legs could carry her.

[[I'm so sorry it has taken me so long to get to this! First i couldn't decide whether i wanted to be a human or a vampire, then i couldn't find a picture i liked and life has been rather hectic as well! So finally, here is my reply! I decided to go with human simply because i don't know a great deal about vampires and i thought it would be something new for you, as you said you'd only done werewolf/vampire war.

I figured we could just have a three way war, but really whatever direction you decide to take is fine by me!! So, look forward to writing with you. Sorry again that it has taken so long XD]]

(( Usually I only ever do the werewolf and vampire war, but I don't mind if you the humans are thrown in there too. Make it so there are hunters going after both clans. It's really up to whether you want to be a human or a vampire. xD It's pretty much whoever you want to be in the war. I'm not picky about that kind of stuff. I make it all work out in the end. ^^Wink)

[[One question before i post, is this war between the werewolves and the vampires, the werewolves and the humans, or is it a three way war between all three?]]

"Have a good weekend, Tristan." The young man turned and waved to his boss. "I'll see you Monday, Richard." Tristan turned and walked into the elevator that he had been waiting for for what felt like eternity. Once he was inside of the elevator and leaning against the wall with his ice blue eyes shut, he took in a deep breath. "Jesus..." He whispered to himself as he opened his eyes and stood up straight. Just as Tristan had moved, the elevator stopped and the doors opened. A woman walked in, one who couldn't have been over the age of 21. Tristan, who was 23, didn't looked to pleased to be seeing this female, though in the eyes of any other male, it would have been crazy to not have this woman's attention. "Tristan... Imagine seeing you here." The young woman spoke, as if taunting him. Tristan eyes the female, raising an eyebrow lightly. "What are you doing here Aya? And don't tell me that you're just passing through. You have no business in my offices." Aya moved into the elevator and leaned against the wall beside Tristan. "You're no fun at all. What happened to the little cub you used to be? You were so much fun then." She said, causing Tristan to scoff. "I grew up and learned the truth. Life isn't fun and games. Our people are being slaughtered left and right. We can't even go to the woods to feed without being in danger anymore." Tristan said, watching Aya. "Now... You didn't come here to talk about our childhood. What do you want?" Aya sighed, crossing her slender arms over her chest. "Your father is looking for you. He wishes to address the council about the sudden increase of deaths among us." Tristan laughed, looking at the floor indicator. Eight more floors to go. "My father can find himself a new grunt. I told him... I'm done fighting his war." Aya growled rather deeply for a girl her size. "Tristan. Your father didn't start this war because he wanted to. Besides, you weren't even alive yet when the war started. So what do you know?" Tristan laughed softly. "I know that my father is a blind man who can only see the bad in every situation. Besides... I already talked to him. It was the same old stuff he always talks about. He doesn't think it's safe for me to be wandering around and living on my own. He wants me to move back home." Two more floors, but Aya spoke... "You should move home again Tristan. Forget your father. What about us? We were suppsed to have a future..." The doors dinged and slowly slid open. "That future was buried along with my brother, Aya." And with that, Tristan walked away from the shocked Aya, leaving the building and walking out into the cool air of the late afternoon.

Over the next couple of hours, Tristan had gone home and changed... The thing any normal human male would do after work. But after that, once the lights went down around town and the moon was high above the world, Tristan did something no other human could ever do. He went outside, walked across his backyard, and walked into the woods through the treeline across his backyard. Tristan began to run, sprinting faster and faster through the trees. He moved with a speed and a heaviness that was not common to see. He ran until the trees became thicker and thicker, until he was a good two miles from his house. And once he was far enough away, the human man became something more. Tristan's deep black hair sprouted, becoming shaggy fur across his body. His limbs shifted and became what seemed to be twisted, and his normal habits of walking on two legs became that of walking on all fours. After much snapping and cracking of moving and growing bones, the once rather handsome man was soon what looked like a rather majestic looking wolf. But this was no ordinary wolf. This black furred creature was a werewolf, something of legends and halloween stories to scare the children. But Tristan was very much so real.

Tristan did this every night. He ran through the woods behind the small city that he lived in. He would hunt the deer and the occasional bear that came around, and then at the end of the night, he would go to the small river that cut through the middle of the woods, and would have a good splash to clean himself. It was a ritual for him, and he had been lucky thus far that he had never come across another living being, other than the animals he called his prey, in these woods.

So after a few hours of hunting, stalking, killing, and feasting... Tristan began to feel his tummy swell with the fullness of another night of good eating. From there, he wandered his way slowly, never wanting to rush himself, towards the banks of the river. He never ended up being far from it, and it ony ever took him a couple of minutes to get there from where ever it was that he had stopped hunting. And just as Tristan had done the night before, and every night over the past four years, Tristan ran full force towards the river and once he was at it's bay, he jumped his large wolf-like body and made a large splash into the cold water. It was moments like these Tristan was glad that his body temperature was so much higher than anything else in the world. Had it not been he would have never been able to survive in the cold weather that he loved so much.

After much splashing and loudness, Tristan slowly paddled his way back to the banks of the river, and as he began to walk out of the water and onto the banks, he transformed his wolf body back into that of his regular form. It only took him moments to transform, and once he was back to normal and the initial popping and snapping of his bones was complete, he plopped down onto the large patch of grass. laying back and looking up to the sky. "Another nice night in the life of a wolf." He mumbled.

((OoC - Need a female. Can be a werewolf, a vampire, or even a human. I don't care. This is meant to be a romance, but be creative. Please be at least a little descriptive. Enjoy ^^))
