| [img] [img] [/img][/img] Penny felt her own cool tears freezing upon her raw cheeks as she listened to the unfolding dispute amongst her captors. She deserved to have the authorities called upon her. She did an awful thing and she deserved to be thrown in jail for it. A part of her had no mind to being behind warm cell bars away from the snow that waltzed about the city. The other half of her caused her to shake violently the side of her that made her realize that she could lose the allowance to attend St. Mary's and the chance to a better life. She could run but her legs felt glued to the very spot she was standing. The crowd slowly dispersing as she let her head hang and the young man's sharp voice pierced her like a knife. No hope....she was the scum of society and no one would want to waste their time of a piece of filth like her. She did not dare look up to see if they would let her go even if she heard the young man say... that stealing was wrong. She knew it was wrong...but her stomach rolled begging for some sort of gratification while her shaking racked her body. The older man approached and his heavy hand rested on her bony shoulder sending needles through her spine. What was this guy doing was he going to do...she heard sometimes about homeless girl's getting taking advantage of....Penny shrunk from his touch a bit her head titling up allowing snow flakes to rest on her cheeks her blue eyes studying the stranger. His deep eyes seemed genuinely kind and his attire suggested an abundance of money. But something made her stomach twist as the words of shelter passed his lips. Her heart leapt but her stomach rolled in nervousness. She had no time to protest and muster the energy to run away. He was towing her with one arm past his son who protested and glared at her. Penny's blue eyes regarding the young man in wide eyes. She felt her last shreds of dignity disappearing as she stepped in tune with his father. His father's harsh voice ended the dispute in front of her and they talked as if she wasnt there. She couldn't really protest the fact that they spoke as if she could not hear she silently took each blow. Why did people have to remind someone who was homeless that they were in a horrible condition..... She looked up at the older man with furrowed brows... "I guess I am fine with it...." She whispered. She didn't like this guy's cocky smile it sent shivers down her spine. They were walking down the street and Penny occasionally glanced to the boy who was her age. Her eyes sharp and some what judging his attitude. She scrunched her nose a little he was the type at St. Mary's who would go out with throngs of friends and beat up the homeless people or maybe the type to bully anyone he thought was beneath him. She hated him at that very moment for looking so perfect and so healthy. Her steps growing weak as they meandered deeper into the classy part of the city. She was ashamed of her situation and wished she wasn't so desperate. Her head shifted constantly taking in the perfect sidewalk and elaborate front doors. She was a piece of filth that had found its way to a clean marble floor..... |

| Jake scowled and let go of the woman, pretty sure that she was shaking too much to try and get away. He stepped past his father and reached for his cellphone, a brand new iPhone 3G, and pressed the screen, about to call the police until his father reached over and putting his hand over the phone. Jake glanced up, eyeing his father carefully. "She tried to steal from us, dad." He reminded his father, who nodded, "She obviously needs to serve some sort of time for it." Jake said. His father didn't nod this time, and simply and gradually slid the phone out of his son's hands, putting it in his front pocket, the one opposite of where his own phone was. Jake's scowl deepened, and his father turned and took the girl's shoulder lightly.
"Stealing is wrong." He said, somewhat quietly. Jake watched the crowds start to disperse, forgetting about the incident and moving on with their own lives. It was about the time he turned back around that he heard his father offer what Jake thought was an icredibly idiotic thing. "Would you like to stay with us, darling? It looks like you're freezing." Oh, his father was way too freaking kind. He just offered to let a homeless theif take refuge in their home!
"Father!" Jake said, attempting to protest, though his father was already walking past him with the girl in tow. Jake glared at her, infuriated beyond any that he had felt before. He jogged to fall in step with his father, "She tried to steal from us. She's a theif. Think about all the things she could take from our home, dad!"
His father rolled his eyes, "She's starving--look at her. Her clothes. We ought to let her stay for a little while until she can attempt to get back on her feet." The argument (which, really, hadn't even started) was over when his father finished speaking, and led Jake and the girl back down the street. "You are alright with this, aren't you, hun?" Jake's father asked, turning towards the homeless girl. Jake couldn't help but wonder, vaguely, if his father wanted another mistress. He shoved the thought from his mind--this girl was obviously underage. His age, even.

| Penny had been stampeding down the street her soles filling with more wet snow than usual. Clouds of loose powder kicking underneath the holey shoes as she whirled around the corner and into what she thought would be a save haven. The darkness of the alleyway calling to her as she tried to skid into it. She felt her knotted hair yank hard sending her skeletal like body to the ground her hips crashing into the hard ground. A whimper passed her lips and she knew it she was to be locked away for this unbearable sin. Her arm yanked tightly the tight brittle skin scratching easily in the bitter wind. Penny dared not to look up at the mass of people forming in the entrance to the alley way. Her arm screaming in pain while her knees knocked together thinking of the negatives this would have on her life. Her head swirled with the shadows that she glared at. The wallet had escaped her grasps and the guilt hung in her stomach tearing at its sides. She shivered violently biting her lip her icy blue eyes glazing over as the hurtful words were flung around by her captor..... "S-s-sorrryyyy....," she let out softly. Her body shook violently as a gust of wind tore through her holey clothing allowing a few tears to escape the confides of her eye ducts. She was shaking fearing her fate after such a rash act....what had been her motivation.....food..... |

| Jake White was considered the classical rich boy. A large mansion that his father kept up as CEO of a huge company, a knack for getting whatever his heart desired, his own (brand new) car, his parents married for convenience, not for love, his father with a mistress. The fact that he didn't really have to work hard to keep it just added the icing to the cake of his life. Even so, just because he lived rich obviously didn't mean it didn't have it's ups and downs. In fact, Jake would prefer living in a happy family (but he wasn't about to tell his father to ditch his girlfriend), even though he knew that would never happen. Not in a million years. He was destined to live comfortably, with everything at his fingertips. Sure, that was nice sometimes, but sometimes it made life a little boring.
Not that Jake was complaining.
Especially not now, as he and his father were exiting a very classy, italian resteraunt with full bellies. "The food there is excellent," His father was telling him, and had been telling him for the past ten minutes, "I adore their pastas." Jake himself had also had a pasta, taking that from his father. His dad was a very kind man, despite his status, and definitely not soured by the fact that he had married a woman he didn't love, or the fact he was seeing another woman behind his wife's back. Jake knew, and so did his true mother. But they didn't say anything. His mom simply wasn't bothered by it, truly being married for business purposes. Jake, though unsure about it, figured that she was probably seeing someone, as well.
Not that Jake really minded.
"Very good," He finally agreed, watching his father pat his stomach. Jake rose a brow. "You know, it's unsafe to keep a wallet in your hand." He mused, though his father just chuckled, handing it to Jake. Jake scowled and handed it back. "This isn't funny, dad."
"Of course it is--lighten up." His father demanded, taking the wallet back and smiling dumbly. It was one moment that the wallet was taken. Another moment, and Jake was slammed into by a young lady, who was currently making her way down the street at a very fast pace. "What the--?" His father asked, confused, just before Jake took off running, down the street and trying to catch the woman who had actually stolen a wallet from his father. His legs sped up desperately, and he finally managed to be able to reach out for her, grabbing her by the hair and yanking her backwards, causing them both to fall over.
"Damn it!" Jake said as he hit the ground, and quickly grabbed the girl's wrist, snatching the wallet away with his other hand, completely out of breath. "What the hell do you think you're doing?!" He demanded, yanking on the girl's wrist in his anger. His father caught up with them, jogging. Jake, infuriated, threw the wallet at him, "I told you it wasn't safe! You're like a freakin' kid!" He yelled, causing quite a few more people, dressed in warm coats, to look at them strangely. Jake stood up, still gripping onto the girl's arm, and dragged her up to her feet as well. "We ought to report this idiot. Stealing a wallet from an old freakin' man." Jake murmured.
His father, dumbfounded up until this point, reached over to pick up the wallet and put it into his pocket before looking the girl over. "It doesn't seem like she has a home," His father mused, looking her over.
"Doesn't deserve one," Jake snorted, causing his father to reach over and hit him on his shoulder.
[fjdklfkjdsjldf. Sorry this sucks, and that it took so long. I was really just trying to get something up. Again, I apologize for any crappiness in here.]

| (ill find a pic for next post ) Soft flakes waltzed down from the fluffy grey clouds that blanketed the familiar crisp blue. A thin wet blanket began to rest of the stone Mary statue, the stone gate, and stone steps that led to the old Catholic school. St. Mary’s was a school that was founded by a convant of nuns who wished to instill a proper education to all. However, as the years and funding went on the convant had to make a harsh decision that the perish pressured them into. The final decision was that St. Mary’s would provide one unfortunate student a proper education and the rest of its attendence would be strictly for the upper crust citizens of the city. A harsh blow that set the mood of who would file into its halls for years to come. There was one figure looking out at the snow with a frown as her fellow peers pressed their noses to the glass feeling its bitter cold. Snow meant waiting in the lines at the home for a place to stay. Her small toes playing with the holes in her soles as she avoided the eye contact of her home room teacher. Holiday break….She feared and hated it…..alone on the snowy streets…..She itched at her worn dress pants that were forming holes at the seams. Her legs itched from the crusted dirt that felt like some sort of clay shell upon the bony skeleton of a frame. Her name was Penny and she was the unfortunate soul that wandered the halls of St. Mary’s. No one knew her situation except for the Principle and this fact left Penny to be the weird smelly girl in the class. Alone in the corner her dark brown eyes stared out the window knowing how the wind would cut into her like a thousand daggers. She would have to run…..run to the closest shelter in hopes of finding a warm bed. BRINGGGGGGGGGG! The bell rang and masses of students escaped the cells of classrooms desperately. Penny hung back relish the warmth as she slowly slipped her old puffy jacket, cotton gloves that were stained with a putrid green color, and an unraveling knitted scarf. All of these items pretty much useless to the harsh wintery gusts forming outside. The wind licking at her cheeks as she jogged her shoes filling slightly with slush. Her thin arms sticking five inches from the sleeves of her jacket as she whirled around corners and down the snowy garbage crusted streets of the graffitied downtown. There it was the shelter and there was the door. The golden oak door slowly closing as Penny skidded into it bang her small fists on the rough surface her dark brown eyes darting on its surface in horror. “Please….Please….I don’t want to sleep in the cold tonight….,” she pleaded to no avail. The snow still floated lazily down from the darkening skies as Penny trudged slowly her numb feet slouching in her shoes. The broken buildings slowly disappearing and replaced with the fancier outlet shops that bordered the downtown and uptown portions of the city, It was then she paused the snow collecting in her tangled spools of knitted brown nest of hair. Her pale face accented by a bright red nose and cheeks that cried for warmth. There before her was the unknown world of fancy white clothed tables and plates of steaming warm food. There she let her mouth hang open and fill with salavia as she licked the cracking thin rosey lips. Her stomach heaving in emptiness her dark brown eyes resting on a young man who stood next to an older feebler man. It was a horrible decision but her stomach made her do it. She pivoited forward on one foot running into the man’s arm grabbing the exposed wallet and slamming into the younger guy. She stumbed a bit catching herself and began running through the masses of white fluff her chest pounding as she began to slow and her feet screamed as she whirled into an alley way collapsing into the white fluff letting it seep into her back as she listened to the yells….. |
