Niklas wandered through the catacombs unphased at all from the sudden change to the darkness that too Miyu time to adjust, though his eyes turned a bright red that nearly glowed when he was in the darkness showing everything about what he was. Niklas was almost surprised by the fact that Miyu was not creeped out or afraid of the fact that she was surrounded by dead bodies though to maintain his human form he kept the surprise restricted to keep Miyu from being frightened, "I do not remember where Saya's body rests either Miyu. Even as a human my memory has not been perfect. But yes, some Chiropterans can smell the queens. Mainly the feral ones react more to the scent than we natural chiropterans do, but we all can smell the queens." He explained as they wandered through the dark catacombs.

Niklas dropped down when Miyu had fallen then he heard her say she was clumsy, "Miyu. You are going to need to feed soon. I can already tell you're getting weaker." He said to her as she dusted herself off.

Niklas had not seen any movies after he had become a chiropteran and even at that he had not seen any scary movies since that wasn't what he liked to watch as a human, "Pod people?" He asked her then looked at the cocoon and sighed, "That is indeed Saya Miyu. This is how they sleep for decades without aging." He then went down on his knees then he bowed in respect to Saya, "Allow her to rest Miyu. If she were to awaken prematurely then we may see a massacre like that of the Vietnam war." He said to her though saw that Saya had taken to Miyu's body well enough to react with just a pulsing like a heart beat, "Though it appears that she will not react that way towards you Miyu." He said to Miyu

Niklas stayed silent while Miyu questioned him, though it wasn't to disrespect Miyu. He stayed silent to give Saya the respect she deserved for saving the world from Diva's urge to exterminate the human race. Though when he spoke he turned to Miyu, "Saya has been in this cocoon since you and your sister were born, after slaying your mother and sparing you and your sister." He said to her showing a small amount of remorse for Saya since she only woke up for a mere moment to turn him into a chivalier since he was tired of his life as a human having been saved by Haji after he tried to jump off a building. The pent up feelings of sorrow, anger and regret were what caused him to be different from Haji, to be unable to stay in a human form, "You do not need to worry Miyu, if you required to go into a cocoon then you would have done so much earlier than now. You are different from you mother and aunt. But yes. I am sure that Saya would still love to see you when she rises, she already has that feeling inside that cocoon that she still cares for you like she did when she saved you from living a life like your mother."

Miyu finally made it to the top. She was very proud of herself for doing it with little assistance from Niklas. Sooner or later she would have to stand on her own two feet. Niklas would not always be there to protect her. “Thank you….” She said quietly as she studied the boulder sitting in front of the catacomb entrance. It was far too heavy for her to move. “Would you mind helping me with one last thing?” She stepped back and allowed Niklas to do his thing. When the path was cleared she stepped in. The catacomb was nothing like the bunker. The catacombs had only a few rooms, but they were all filled with the remains of the deceased. All the bodies were neatly placed and organized. The older bodies or urns were placed in the back and the newer were in the front. Miyu’s eyes adjusted to the darkness slowly. She stumbled a little as she traveled deeper in to the catacombs. Unlike most women she was not creeped out being surrounded by dead people. Everyone buried inside was her kin, She felt at peace knowing that. “I am not sure where father hid Saya’s body. I know she is here somewhere.” Miyu could sense Saya’s body was close. “Can the Chiropteran smell Saya?”

Miyu was expecting Saya to be hidden in a stone coffin or a tougher case. Miyu tumbled to the ground suddenly and slid a little. Thank god she did not smack her head on anything or broke any of the urns/coffins. “Damnit!” She yelled out. Miyu could tell that she scraped her knees and the palms of her hands from the impact. It was nothing serious. Her wounds would heal within a couple days. Miyu did not want to tell Niklas that she fell because of her weakened condition. Normally she would have been able to catch her balance. She stood up and dusted herself off. “Clumsy me…..” To her surprise the culprit that snagged her foot was something poking up out of the ground like a vein. “What in the hell is that?” Her sight followed the thing that was sticking up out of the ground to a large cocoon in the darkest area of the catacomb. It frightened Miyu. It reminded her of an old, scary movie called return of the pod people. The pod people came from outer space and took the shape of humans. Then they would hide the body of the human they were imitating in a pod and feed off o their life force. The movie gave Miyu nightmares for weeks!

Miyu jumped behind Niklas and hid. “Niklas! The pod people are here!!!” She squeaked. Miyu was not trying to be funny…..she was serious. She thought the cocoon was a pod. “Kill it! Kill it!” She closed her eyes tightly and waited for Niklas to attack it. Miyu suddenly remembered something that Niklas had said before about how Saya and Diva came from a cocoon. Miyu poked her head out from behind Niklas and blinked. “Let me guess…..that’s Saya??” Miyu had very faint memories of seeing the cocoon before. It was a long time ago….to far back for her to clearly remember. She was about three or four, her father had brought her and her sister to the catacombs. Back in those days Miyu called her father by his first name. At times she still did. Cautiously she approached the cocoon by herself. “Why is she in a cocoon?” Miyu placed her hands on the outer shell then pressed her ear against it to try to hear what was on the inside. The cocoon pulsed like a heart beating inside a chest when she touched it. Miyu jumped back and growled like a wild animal at it.

It pulsed because the slumbering Saya could sense who it was. Also the protective shell of the cocoon was shielding Saya from Miyu’s blood. Miyu forgot her palms were still bleeding. “I am sorry Saya….please do not be angry with me.” The tips of her fingers trailed over the shell instead of her palms so her blood would not get on it again.

“Heh…..I can feel her heartbeat….” Saya was alive and well inside. “How long has she been like this? Will she ever come out?” Miyu felt so tired. Her knees trembled and slowly she slid down the side of the cocoon and fell down, but not hard. Miyu rested the side of the cocoon and yawned. She had reached her limit for now. She would have to either feed or take a nap. “Will I be trapped inside a shell one day? “ She asked. Her eyes were half way open. “I do not want that to happen to me. I want to stay awake and live my life……Is that selfish of me to say?” Only time would tell if Miyu and her sister would fall asleep like Saya. The both of them were different from their mother and aunt. Something inside of them forced an evolutionary change that separated them from the generation before. “Do you think Saya will be happy to see me when she wakes up?”

Niklas was running short on methods in order to get Miyu to feed on blood, both his blood was nontoxic to Miyu and hers was the same with him, only Miyu's sister's blood was toxic to her like only diva's blood was toxic to him, "We take our time to reach the catacombs, remember that we Chiropterines are much like what the humans call vampires, though the only difference is that we do not weaken in the sun." He said to Miyu.

When Miyu asked him for a ride he dropped down so that she could get on his back then he started rushing off in the directions that she pointed to him using unconventional methods of travel to keep themselves from being seen accurately by the humans. Anyone that would have seen him would think that he was just the wind due to the speeds that he was running combined with jumping off the sides of buildings when needed to make a quick disappearance.

Once at the beach he would offer to carry her up the steep cliff side since in his condition he was able to clear the cliff within a few leaps going straight up, though she would always say she would climb it herself. With the way that she was starving herself it seemed like she was going to reach her limit and collapse at the side of the cliff. He was keeping up with Miyu with no signs that she was tiring, he had adapted his body to use very little blood to function the way that he did. He had been a Chiropterine for years now though with his immortality he would forever appear the age of 20.

Niklas had been right at her heels keeping Miyu from falling if she were to lose her balance. With her weakened body, a long fall would easily finish her like an ordinary human.

As the two stepped out in to the open she looked up at him with a pair of dual colored eyes. Her right eye had changed to a light green color while the other became a dark shade of red. Her body was starving but she refused to feed on blood. Sooner or later she would have no other choice but to feed. Mentally she was refusing to let go of her human habits. This whole thing was still sinkning in. "So.....how do we do this?" Miyu knew she was not as fast of him. It would take time and training for her to reach his level of experience. Lucky for him the catacombs was in an area where he would be able to teach her without having to fear hurting any humans. The catacombs were tucked away in a private area that was difficult for humans to reach. No doubt the chiropterans would find them but it would take a while.

It felt awkward when she asked him, "Would you mind giving me a ride?" Quickly he picked her up and the two were off. Miyu pointed him in the right direction. She was careful not to give him verbal directions. The walls had ears so she did not want to risk someone over hearing her at any point. Once they were out of the city she quietly asked him to put her down. "We will need to climb the rest of the way. There use to be stairs.....". Kai had them demolished a few years ago. He had good reason too. The scientists were looking for Saya's body. In order to protect Saya he wnet through heaven and hell to make sure no one outside of the family knew its exact location and how to get in.

The two were at a beach looking area. Across the waves a glimpse of the sun rising was reflecting off of the water. Miyu stood at the foot of a dead end area. The only way to go was up. Whenever Niklas offered to carry her she to him no or pushed his hand away. "I can do it. Don't worry about me Niklas I will be alright.". She gave him a warm smile and began to climb. In her weakened condition it was probably better to have him carry her up, but she refused. He had already done so much for her. She did not want to impoe on him any further. "Come on slow poke!". She said to him in a happy tone as she continued to climb higher and higher. He was not the slow one....she was. Miyu could see that she was the one who was slowing him down. All she wanted to do was prove to him that she was capable of doing more than whinning, crying, and complaining.

Miyu felt invincible until about a couple hundred feet up. She was not use to such a tough terrain. Every now and again she would stop to take a break but still she continued pushing herself.

(I was thinking he would carry her to the catacombs just to speed things up. Is that alright? That is all I was planning on doing with Niklas.)

Niklas nodded to her when she said that he was her Niklas, "Indeed Miyu, I am your Chivalier." He said to her then he cracked his knuckles and grabbed the door ready to pull the door out so that they could get out, "Just tell me when you're ready to leave so that we can get going." He said to her.

Once she said that she was ready he pulled the extremely heavy door like it was just a normal door then he moved so that she could leave before he could, "After you my queen." He understood the usage of a gun perfectly. He had two revolvers with pure sodium rounds embedded in the hollow point rounds that would result in a highly powerful explosion when it hits any sort of liquid, "Miyu, I noticed that you stocked on bullets for more guns that we can carry, there's no use in carrying that many bullets, it would slow us down." He said to her while he waited for her to leave.

Niklas was ready for anything, he didn't feel tired, he never felt weak. All with the downside of nearly being driven insane since he couldn't show what he looked like or he would most likely be treated as an outcast since Haji's true form was hardly any change to his human for.

“Niklas….you need to remember…I’m not Saya….and I am not Diva…..” Meaning she was not scared of his true form. “On the inside you are still my Niklas. Alright?” Her tone changed to a more nervous tone. When she passed by she did not look at him. It was almost like he had insulted her in a way. They had not known each other for more than a couple days. By now he should have been able to tell that she was nothing like her mother or her aunt. Miyu and her twin sister were both special in more way than one. They were both stronger, their abilities were different and their powers were indescribable. There were things that they could both do that would rewrite the rules and change the image of chiropterans. Miyu did not know the full extent of her powers yet since she had not had the chance to experiment with them. Perhaps when they reached the catacombs she would try. The twins were very similar but both very different at the same time. There were things that Miyu could do that her sister couldn’t. That is what made her the perfect candidate to take on the chiropterans.

“Alright….I am ready….” She said to him. When he opened the door. Now that he had adjusted the bag for her it was easier to carry. He did not seem to understand that bullets were a lot quicker than a sword. She brought the gun along to protect them from human enemies, not the chiropterans. Unless there was a special bullet that was used to destroy chiropterans? There probably was a bullet that was designed to kill chiropteran. Perhaps in the near future someone from their team would contact them and let them know. That would be a hell of a lot easier than swinging a huge clunky sword around. The only problem was….Miyu did not know how to use a gun or even aim. She would have to practice both using her sword and the gun. She refused to leave either one behind.

“The catacombs are quite a ways from here. Are you up for a hike?” The catacombs were west from where they were now. It was near the beach hidden away within a cliff. It was a family secret and a great hiding spot since it was so hard to get too.

Niklas went to Miyu then he took a hold of the bag and wrapped it around her shoulder unphased by any weight that it had, "We must leave now Miyu. We only take only the bare needs or we may end up carrying too much and that would slow us down." He said to Miyu then he went to the heavy door placing his hand on the door and then he focused on vibrations from the outside, "The area is clear for now Miyu. But we must move now." He said to her grabbing his sword and placing the strap around his shoulders so that the weapon is usable, "I appreciate that you are trying to cheer me up Miyu, but you know that I have to have complete control over my emotions to maintain this form. My true form even scared Saya when I lost control."
