| A blinding flash emenated from the plasma grenade tat had so eagerly stuck itself to the side of the chieftan's underarm. Steam slowly billowed from his now burnt and scarred form. He boomed a mighty roar, standing upright slowly. The submachine gun's bullets doing nothing but deflecting off the tough armour the superior brute was granted by the prophets. It lifted the hammer again, charging towards the female, hoping to make this quick. It swung, coming from the right in an attempt at shattering her ribcage. The hammer suddenly stopped before being deflected to one side, a heavy knee connecting with the brute's armoured stomach before a strong elbow to the jaw sent it tumbling back and into the icy snow. " Stay down." a smoothe order came over her comm, obviously from the man that now stood before her. Tall, armoured and tough. Spartan. " I'm borrowing your weapon." he stepped toward her slowly, bending down and gripping the machine gun before slowly taking it from her grasp. He didnt care if it was reloaded or anything. He just needed one bullet. " Demon...! Your death will not be quick!" roared the chieftan, standing up before attempting to charge yet again. The spartan did so too, ducking beneath the hammer as it swung over his head before getting in close enough. His palm connected with the brute's chin, snapping his head back in the process. An opening. The submachine gun's barrel touched just beneath the brute's jaw before a single bullet was unloaded into it's head. The huge beast gave one final roar before slowly collapsing backwards into the snow. The gun lowered and the bright yellow visor scanned the surroundings for more enemies. All clear. With that, he turned and grabbed her wrist, pulling her to her feet with one small tug. " Where is the rest of your team?" he asked flatly, not amused with finding her out here. Without back up. With a chieftan. She would have died. Simple as that. " And more to the point. What are you doing challenging a brute of that size?" he was almost looking down on her, the way he spoke. [Sorry for how short it is and long it took. Forgt what I wrote and couldnt think of much else </3] _________________ ::Dead - End:: |

| “Get that backside of yours moving, soldier!” The sergeant barked, urging the Helljumper squad to get to their drop pods. Adeline Carmine heaved out a sigh behind her helmet as the countdown boomed in her helmet comlink.
Pod launch in t-minus twenty-five seconds and counting...
"Remember, squad, we finish our objectives first and then meet at the extraction point. Good luck, men…and I’ll see you on the surface in one piece.” By the sound of Gunnery Sergeant William H. Ashton hesitation, he sounded worried and afraid. The poor guy; he’d always looked out for his men.
Pod launch in t-minus ten seconds and counting...
Adeline had a reason to be nervous, they all did, every ODST soldier in the UNSC did. There was always a ninety-eight percent chance that one of them wouldn't survive the landing--especially if hostile anti-aircraft was present.
Five, four, three, two, one.
The sergeant went first before the rest of the platoon, better to die first than to see it for those under your command instead. The rest of the SOIEV pods followed suit. The sudden jerk of the launch made Adeline feel like her heart skipped a few beats.
One of us is probably going to be digging our own grave...
The sight of the planet's surface was beautiful, as it meant that the pod was getting closer to land. Adeline couldn't help but slam her eyes shut.
"Oh shit!!" Someone over the comlink cried, forcing the female to open her eyes and spot a nearby pod burn up and explode, she watched in horror, terrified.
"We've lost Isaacs!" Dante choked.
"At least we remembered to tighten our seatbelts," Collins added smugly.
It wasn't funny, someone just died, and Collins was joking around--just to cheer himself up, perhaps?
Adeline's stomach churned as he saw the frosted wasteland appear below her, this is it.
For the next few moments--which could possibly be the last--of her life, she hoped that all this trouble to save Earth would be worth dying for.
---- “Warning! Safety and navigational systems malfunction! Please remain calm.”
“For what?!” Adeline cursed as she banged her fist against the computer screen, her temper flaring up. “I’m about to fry in an egg and you’re telling me to remain calm?!”
The drop pod was now burning through the air, unstoppable and irreversible. Only good luck could save the female ODST.
The ground came into view and the impact brought up total darkness.
Earth isn’t gonna grow big arms and shoo the Covenant like flies, soldier, get up!
Adeline felt a strong pain as she woke from unconsciousness, she survived the crash. But she was unsure of the fates of her other squad mates. She took a few seconds to shake off the disorientation and tried to kick open the hatch. It was stuck against the snow that had been shoved up against it upon crashin on the outside, but it was loose enough to open with a little force.
Her VISR picked up movement, red blotches appeared on his threat detector, she froze.
Don't fucking tell me its--
Brute stalkers and a chieftain were approaching the area, luckily for her--they were unaware of her presence--not yet. She struggled to get the hatch open before they noticed her, getting closer and closer.
Then it finally gave way and bent out slightly so her form could just fit through the hatch. She crawled out quickly--as the outer skin of the pod was as hot as fire from the landing--and grabbed a M7 submachine gun. She sprinted and hid behind a large mount of snow which clearly blended in with the color of her suit. Ignoring the pain in her arm and taking aim on the nearest contact.
“It appears to have escaped, sir,” One brute said to the chieftain.
The chieftain sniffed the air suspiciously, “It cannot have gone far, I can smell the vermin’s fear.”
He huffed a short bark and the other brutes scattered around, the hunt was on. ----
Drop pods were scattered amongst the planet, but most had either collapsed and were now debris and hunks of metal. The ones intact were empty which mean atleast some of the ODSTs were managing their way through this wretched planet.
Static came through every channel on her COM link, so trying to signal someone over that appeared pointless. Stepping past several trees, she kept the firearm leveled while watching the radar for anymore signs of enemies. This is definately not good.... she thought pressing her side against a tree. A large splotch of red suddenly flashed across her visor upon the threat detector. Her heart skipped a beat, shifting on her feet with great speed she came face to face with the large brute. Without hesitation her finger pressed down on the trigger, firing several rounds into it.
Bringing down its mighty gravity hammer, the impact sent her body thrashing across the snow. The bones that created her very frame rattled within. Forcing herself back on her feet, her hand lowered to one of the three plasma grenades retrived from the ground. Activating it, the small explosive glowed a brilliant blue as it was lobbed through the air only to attach itself to the brute that stomped through the snow in attempts to smash the ODST. This didn't stop Adeline from firing at it.
Ooc: Yep took FOREVER, sorry about that. Its just I didn't have much time -_-. But here it is if your still interested. I really didn't put too much detail on the mission they were sent on but guess it could be explained later. I'm not sure how you want to come in. If you like you can have your character kill the brute for her, or maybe have him meet her later. Doesn't matter, and mature for blood, violence ect. And yep since the planet's encased in snow then I figured the ODST would be dressed in a suit the same color
