Kio watched silently, his body still tense and his chin level with his eyes flitting from Pluto to Akina then to Kino. He closed his eyes as the flash immersed the room. He could still see it through his eyelids but was afraid to break from attention as his training back at base had taught him that breaking attention without being told could result in a kick, a punch or even a 500 kilometre hike in nothing but your underwear and with your officer clinging onto your back to increase weight and make it harder. He listened intently to what the scientist said, aware that Pluto wasn’t too fond of him or Kio. All information was useful and any information on your enemy was even better.

As he was ordered Kio relaxed and parted his legs, stretching his muscles slightly. Kio made to help the scientist up but stopped as Kino spoke. He had heard rumours about Akina and some of them seemed unbelievable but he supposed it was best to assume the worst and do what he was advised. His legs followed Akina obediently, his legs speeding up to gain pace with her. He made no attempt to touch her to get her attention but instead took a step to the side of her, just barely in reaching distance. His eyes glanced at Pluto in human form every so often.

Kio’s eyes changed from Pluto to Akina. Somehow he knew she was aware that he was staring at her and averted his eyes from the side of her face and decided to look blankly ahead of himself at the other side of the deck. “What would you like to know, ma’am?” He asked in a confident tone. He knew he was just like all the other new recruits, overconfident and hot headed. Although he could admit it, it didn’t help him overcome it. That would come with experience.

In the distance a rythmic metalic could be heard. Instead of saying something to the new recruit Akina turned her back to him. "Whatever...." She thought to herself. The metalic sound came closer and closer until a small looking toy like creture could be seen. since real animals were not allowed on the base mechanical ones had to be made. Some had dogs, others had cats like the one that was approaching. Kino could be heard in the background swearing up a storm and running towards the mechanical animal. "No!!! Pluto go back inside!!!" Kino's voice did not register with Pluto's voice recognition and continued to run towards the group. "Pluto???" The princess smiled brightly and held her hands out. The screen that made up the felines face was like a computer screen, and often made little faces like ^_^ or -_-. It was a simple mmachine but it served its purpose. "Meow!" The feline jumped right in to Akina's arms then pawed its way up to her shoulder. When Kino approached the cat hissed. The cat's voice box produced a sound like metal dropping on to metal. Kino pointed at the cat and yelled, "You are not allowed on the deck! You know that Pluto!"

Akina scatched the cat behind its ear and watched Kino yell, and lose his cool. "Your highness you must remove Pluto at once!" Akina nodded and looked at Pluto, "Pluto...Commence comand number 1..." The screen of the cat's face went from a happy blue to a violent ruby red. It jumped from off of Akina's shoulder. The moment it hit the ground it began to transform. Before the final key locked in to place a bright light dispersed all over the room. To most the light was blinding, it did not effect Akina, she was use to it. When the light dulled down it left behind another female. She was shorter than Akina, and just as good looking. Dressed in leather from head to toe the child like humanoid creature ran right back to Akina and hugged her. "Aki!" Pluto called her mistress. "Aki has been gone to long!" Pluto's grammer was not quite the best. She was not made to communicate, she was made for battle or more to protect.

"Aki going to stay?" Akina returned the loving grasp and replied, "Yes I am going to stay. We have three weeks together." Pluto cheered as she jumped up and down. She only looked 16. Kino spoke up and said, "Kio meet Pluto. She is the latest in Hybrid technology. She was designed by Akina. Marvelous piece of work isn't she? When we found her hosts original body she was dead. We brought her back to life by fusing her outter human shell with inner mecha parts.....We hope to produce more like her some day...." Pluto his behind Akina and pointed at the new recruit. Her feline eyes went from blue to gold. Just like Akina her eye color changed with her mood. Gold meant she was curious, or uncomfortable. Pluto was a mix between the two emotions. "No! I don't like!" She meant she did not like the new recruit, he was competition. Pluto began to tear up and yearn for Akina's full attention. Kino pulled out his glasses, approached Pluto, and took a closer look at her. She had shown a new emotion that had not been recorded yet. "Hmmmmm interesting...He said." Pluto moved away from Kino, "No...I don't like..." Pluto did not like Kino either. Like the new recruit he was competition. Kino took up a lot of Akina's free time. When Kino got to close Pluto pushed him over on to the ground, she then returned to hiding behind Akina.

"Oof!" Kino said as the wind was knocked out of his lungs. The poor doctor was use to the abuse, and he understood that both Akina and Pluto had issues with people getting to close to them. Kino got up to his feet and put his glasses away, "While Pluto is in her cat form her internal makeup messes with the larger mechas. While she is a human she does not do anything. "Aki? Plu is hungry!" Pluto said very quietly as Akina crossed her arms over her chest and watched the new recruit. "At ease....Do not do that shit around me (Do not salute lol)." Akina began to remove the upper chest plate of her armor, "Walk with her soldier. Tell me more about why you are here." Akina began to walk away. Pluto grabbed on to Akina's hand and followed along with her mistress. Kino looked at Kio and smirked, "If I were you I would catch up before she looses interest."

Invictus came to a steady halt in front of the small group that was gathering and staring at him. Kio really didn’t quite see why they were watching him. He saw a couple of them whisper and lean over to each other’s shoulders. He spotted his new boss standing apart from them with a cigarette placed between her lips and letting out puffs of smoke every so often. He activated the leg anchors and they deployed from a compartment in the metallic limbs of Icarus. They dug into the ground, causing cracks in the surface around them. He checked the monitors one last time. Fuel/energy: 62.89%. Oil heat: Optimal. Energy core: Safe. He repeated the messages, in his head, on the LCD screens.

When he was done he stretched to the extent of the little control room. He opened the back hatch with a flick of a switch and his chair slid out of the mecha’s back. He stood up and slowly climbed down the ladder attached to Icarus’s side. When Kio made contact with the ground he walked over to the group of scientists. They greeted him with handshakes and smiles. “Hello Kio.” Said one and the others nodded, as if to say the same. Kio smiled politely. “Hey.” He replied in courtesy. He glanced at Akina but quickly averted his gaze as the scientists started to praise him for how he could pilot the mecha. He didn’t bother to reply but instead smiled and nodded, pretending to listen. He really wasn’t all that good compared to some other people, such as Akina. He knew his limits and would always abide by them.

Kio eventually broke away from the group of intellectuals and tech nerds. He walked over to Akina and saluted as was customary. “Kio, fresh recruit from base. Codename Daedalus. Mecha codename: Icarus, class: custom.” He stated with confidence, forcing his legs together and joining his hands behind his back.

Akina yawned softly as she began to walk away from the geoup of egg heads. Science and other shit like that was not her strong point. She was was the type of person that killed first and ask questions later. That is what made her the best of the best, she had no heart, and felt no sympathy. "Wait!! Wait! we are not done yet! We need to......" As the male scientist got closer to her he was met with a hand around his scrawny throat. "No one tells me what to do...DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT?!?" The scientist clawed at her hand and kicked around as she raised him in to the air. "Your....your highness...please...." He strugled to speak as her hand squeezed tighter. "Give me one reason why I should let you live???" She smirked as she loosened up a little. She did not want him to die quite yet. The scientist took in a deep breath and said, "You need to be briefed on your next mission!" Akina rolled her eyes and dropped the scientist. "Doctor Kino you are lucky I am in a good mood today." Hunched over the scientist coughed and nodded to the woman. "Yes...I understand your highness thank you."

Pulling out a cigarette from a pocket on the side of her flight armor she placed it in her mouth and lit it. "So what is my next mission? I thought you said I had three weeks off...." Akina took in a long relaxed drag and held her breath for a few seconds then let the smoke exit through her nostrils. The cigarette had an odd sweet smell to it, it was like mint and a rich scent of an unknown substance. "General Akina are you consuming an illeagal substance Dr. Kino asked her as he opened up a file. She looked at the nagging scientist out of the corner of her brilliant colored eyes. "So what if I am? There is nothing you can do about it." Kino sighed and handed Akina the folder. Opening it up she read over the instructions and chucked the folder back to the scientist. "I decline the mission." The contents of the folder spilled all over the deck of the station. Kino quickly gathered everything up, "Your highness....you cannot just simply decline a mission! You know the laws! You...YOU ARE NOT ABOVE YOUR FATHER'S LAWS!!!" He was right. "We will see about that." She said to him as her eyes changed from an emerald green to a red color. "I will be in my quarters." She said to him as she began to walk away again.

"He is coming!" Another scientist yelled to Dr Kino. Kino ran to the group of scientists and watched as the newbie flew in. Most were impressed by his ability to handle such a monstrsity (sp?). "Looks like the princess has competition." Akina heard what the scientist said and froze where she stood. There was no way that anyone could be as good as her! Keeping her distance she waited for the new recruit to land. She would not be polite, she would not be friendly, in fact she would probably not give the newbie the time of day. that was one of many faults Akina had. She was what she was...a spoiled rotten princess. Childish or not no one could deny her talent. Because of who she was she climbed the chain of comand quickly. Now they all awaited the new recruit. Akina stood far from the others and just continued smoking.

The poet over the radio had a clear and distinct voice which Kio listened to before switching off the speakers and listening to the soft hum of the engine as he sat within the large machine that was his Icarus. When he had completed his training he had been assigned to a research group for his specific fighting skills. In the 2 months of extra training he had become accustomed to the hulking mecha. He forced a switch forward and activated the thrusters which sent him flying forward. At first it had come as a surprise every time it had happened before but as his system (body) became accustomed to the forces that attacked him when he flew or activated the thrusters. He gave a small smile as he spotted a large building appear on his radar. That was where he was heading, that was where his new leader lay. His 21 year old face almost seemed like a teenagers. It was something that most people thought of it as a blessing, Kio knew as he got older he probably would too, but, right now, he thought of it as a curse of sorts as people failed to believe that he was 21 which made relationships and going to 18 rated movies hard.

A man and his nagging wife went on a vacation to Jerusalem why they were there, the wife dies the undertaker told the husband, "You can have her shipped hime for $5000 or bury her here in the holy land for $150." The man thought about it and told her he would have her shipped home. The undertaker asked, "Why would you spend $5000 to ship your wife home when it would be better buried here and you would only spend $150?" The man replied, "Long ago a man died and was buried here, and three days later his was raised from the dead....I just can't take that chance..."

A voice said over a radio. The woman on the opposite side of the radio chuckled and replied, "That is just wrong." A black mecha pulled in to a station and powered down. The front hatch opened, and lowered. From inside a slender girl walked out and met the team of scientists who were waiting on her. they needed results from the lastest flight. "How does it handle?" One man asked the pilot. The woman who was still laughing from the joke she heard over the radio just gave the scientist a smile. "It still needs a little work in my opinion. She is a little stiff....but all in all she (the mecha) runs like a dream. When will she be ready to take out in to the field (field=a term for the war front)." The scientists all looked at eachother, one spoke up and said, "Three weeks tops. We are developing a new technology that the world has never seen before. When it is ready you will be briefed on the new improvments. It will be better....faster.....stronger...and impossible to beat..." The woman looked up at the sleeping giant and whispered. "Perfect! I will name her Noir..."
