| Emily’s eyes widened at the greeting she received. Of course, she would see if anyone was available but to be asked out on a lunch break? Her blue eyes had widened a bit at the gentlemen’s response not daring to look at his face until a sharp irritated voice met her ears. Looking up she studied the impatient man and smiled gently not thinking to hard. “Mr. Wellington would be the best person…Just one moment. Her bony hands reached for the phone as her right hand played the extension numbers like a piano. “Mr. Wellington, would you have time to squeeze in an appointment. The gentlemen is having a hard time with a girlfriend or something….Yes… Of course,” She smiled and turned to the gentlemen. “He’s in the last office down the hall….He says he’ll try to help you with your women issues…..But if I have to say I think in the course of four minutes I can see why a girl would want to make your life a living hell,” she chuckled at the last part. She was very pleased with herself. “You gentlemen don’t have to accompany him if you don’t want. There is a couple chairs and magazines you may flick through,” Emily gestured the sitting area with a shaky arm. She was tired and hungry and she had about twenty minutes till lunch but not a cent to purchase anything. She could take the guy on his offer her eyes studying the handsome features on the young guy’s face. But her heart sank at the posibility of needing to depend on someone. But before she could add her decline her stomach growled interuppting the silence of her filing papers…. (sorry its so short @_@ didn’t want to push the thing too far forward) |

| "She's freakin' crazy, man!"
"I'd have to agree with Julio on this one, Jack. You made a bad choice with Whitney."
"Shut the hell up--this is why I don't like letting you two drive with me." Jack snapped from behind the wheel, rolling to a stop at a red light and turning to glare at his two best friends, Julio and Rob. Rob rose a brow at Jack, and the bleach-haired male let out a sigh, realizing that, because he was in a bad mood, he had yelled at his friends for no apparent reason. "Look--I know I made a mistake, but you two should be used to it. I always pick up girls like that, you know?" Jack stated, a silly grin rising to his face. Julio laughed, agreeing, and Rob simply rolled his eyes and glanced out the window, where the ongoing traffic had trapped them at the light. The three males let the car dwindle into a silence, leaving Jack to think about his most recent mistake, Whitney.
The girl had seemed kind at first, sweet and forgiving, until Jack had decided that he was bored with her, and, as Julio put it, "kicked her to the curb." The blonde had gone a little crazy then--breaking into Jack's apartment and destroying his things. This time, she had actually come when he was still there, and had begged him to take her back. When Jack had declined, she had literally had a mental breakdown, and ended up throwing the DVD player at Jack's head before Rob had managed to get her out by threatening to call the police, and pushing her to the door. Whitney managed to hit the poor guy with a lamp before running away from the apartment complex, crying and screaming at the top of her lungs. A couple people had taken the chance to poke their heads out of their rooms to see what was going on, but upon seeing Jack outside, watching the girl leave, they automatically went back inside. People were used to Jack's crazy girlfriends coming and going. This one just happened to be a little crazier than most.
Which was exactly why Jack was going to the law firm downtown to sue the girl for breaking most of his possesions. Rob and Julio had decided to tag along, just in case Jack needed the "moral support". Well, at least, "moral support" was Julio's reason for going. Rob actually went because he wanted to see what the firm looked like, since he was currently looking for a job to help him pay the bills while he finished school.
Currently, both Julio and Rob were living in Jack's apartment. Julio had been unemployed a few months ago, and Jack had offered him a place to stay until his friend could get back on his feet. Rob and Jack had already been roommates before Julio moved in, each paying half the rent. Rob had been laid off from his old job about a week ago due to the harsh economy, and was currently looking for a new one, as he also used the money from his job to help pay for college. Jack was currently working double jobs to pay his half of the rent, and had opted not to go to college, since it would be too much money for him to handle--besides, Jack was under the impression that he wasn't smart enough to go to college, anyways.
Julio leaned forward from the backseat and turned on the radio, changing it to a hip-hop station. Rob immediately turned it off, only to have Jack turned it back on and change it to a rock station. Rob and Julio both gave him death glares. "My car, my choice of music." Jack stated, winking. Julio groaned and rolled his eyes, shoving Jack's shoulder lightly.
"Come on, man. We always listen to what you want. Lemme listen to some hip-hop," Julio's slightly bad english drifted to Jack's ear, but the man simply shrugged his shoulders. "Come on, man!" Julio pleaded, before Rob simply reached over and turned it off again.
"I've got a headache."
"Whatever, man."
Jack reached over and turned the radio on for a third time, increasing the volume, much to Rob's displeasure. Julio chuckled.

Jack rolled the car into the parking lot with the radio turned off, and parked in front of the building, glancing up at the firm with a look of distaste. He disliked that building, because lawyer's were terrible, steal-your-money kind of people. But he sure as hell needed someone to go to, so he was there, about to sue his latest, crazed girlfriend. He took the keys out of the ignition and shoved them in his pocket, locking the car from the inside and letting everyone out. The trio made their way to the front of the building and slipped inside, making their way to the front desk.
A skinny, somewhat unhealthy-looking girl sat behind the counter, and she gave them a beaming smile, her voice perky and loud as she greeted them. Jack rose a brow, confused by her cheerful attitude. Maybe she was on her death bed and saw no point in being upset about it. It sure didn't look like she was healthy to Jack. He didn't say anything, and Julio stepped up instead, leaning over the counter and giving a bright smile.
"No, we don't have an appointment," He said, his voice taking on a sickly sweet edge. Jack knew that voice. Already, Julio was planning to ask the girl out, "Could you get us one? Or, better yet, get Jack one, and we can go out on your lunch break," Julio winked, leaning over the counter. Jack shoved him away and rolled his eyes when Rob did, turning back to the girl.
"Ignore him. I need a lawyer--any idea who could take on a case for a crazy ex-girlfriend?" Jack asked, apparently unashamed to call Whitney crazed.
[Hope this works. Sorry it took so long. xD]

| Today is the day I turn a new leaf! It been a hectic year and it is time to stop pitying myself and get out there! Life is worthless if I spend it dwelling on the pain and the only place the worth lies in is in the struggle. But the reality is I was still running from the demons that plagued my very soul encasing it in a cage that resembled the beater box from the movie Uncle Buck. Little did I know that my world was about to change along with the birth of winter. A violent shiver riddled a small petit woman casing her legs to hit a rusty door handle and her head to slam against hard plastic. The frosty windows sheilded the depressing image allowing the small skeletal like figure slip into an old blouse and little knit sweater. They were outdated and their true colors had long since faded away as nervous fingertips buttoned the worn fabric. Then came the oversized pencil skirt and worn slipper shoes sliding into their designated places. A cloud of chilled air escaped icy pink lips as two small blue pools regarded the frost that collected outside the window. “Today will be different! I have to stop this maddness,” The young woman proclaimed. Her voice was filled with strain and her heart hung in the bowels of her hips unable to flutter. The streets of a buzzing city….where people did not care to stop and ask about who you were and what story you held. A perfect place to wollow in the caves of ones sorrows because not one person could look you in the eye. It was these streets that the starving female wandered. The cold would be rolling in and she could not afford to spend another winter in the piece of junk. It had not moved for a year and a half from a small parking lot that rested next to Willington Law Firm. The car rested there almost as if a memorial to past battles that had been lost or won for the employees at the firm and on this bright chilly day it would be the first time the witnessed its occupant stroll through their rotating glass doors. The tile glistened under her scuffed flats as she headed for the designated floor. The ohones a whirl as the elevatored shuttled her to the top floor. They were plea calls to the owner to accept the poor girl’s application! To have some generosity to a girl in need and the owner who was in need of a secretary replied to every phone call with a silent “Ill take that into consideration.” The sickly car living girl’s name was Emily and it was her stomach who had coaxed her finally into applying for some sort of job! She was shuffled past dark stained desks and into an office her slightly knotted hair brushing her cheeks. Emily’s stomach had twisted and there she stood her weight leaning on her right leg as she pondered her fate. The older gentlemen smiled his lips curling as he gave the job of secretary so easily to her and commanding she begin at that moment. A twist of emotions rattled inside her rib cage as she sat at her desk filing papers, typing up mindless documents, answering phones, and greeting cleints. Emily felt her mind swirl as she filed her stomach walls vibrating as someone presented himself at the desk. “Good Morning! Do you have an appointment,” greeted Emily slightly irritated at her hunger situation! |
